The problem is we have approximately 35,000 homeless in O.C. and growing and places like Village of Hope only can handle 125 people or less. We have so many empty buildings in Orange County due to the economy and yet no one would allow a homless child to sleep on the floor. So much red tape and this is not going away. With high rents and deposits and security deposits for rent these people are caught in a type of hell. The sadness is for some it is nothing they did wrong. They had a heart attach, got cancer, were left by a spouse. There must be a better way. We manage to house all of our stray dogs and cats and feed and shelter them. But we don't do this with precious children sleeping behind a dumpster with a homeless parent. No wonder the world looks at us in a peculiar way. Only by the grace of God, we all go. I am happy for the person working at Village of Hope and for all those who were accepted into the program.
