Happy Thanksgiving Free Turkey

Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on all that we are grateful for.  Friends, family, health - the list goes on and on.  Sometimes we have such a great year that we couldn’t possibly name all of the things we are grateful for in a period of five minutes.  Other years it may take us a full five minutes to come up with a single item.  Life is like that.

Last November my brother and his family moved out of state.  This Thanksgiving my parents are visiting them.  Add to that the fact that both of my grandparents passed away this year.  This Thanksgiving will be different and I will miss spending it with my brother, my parents and my grandparents.

Life is constantly changing and many of us have a difficult time with change.  We we can choose to look at change two ways. We can live miserably in the wake of it or we can look to see what new promises and blessing it might bring.  This year I will miss the family that I grew up with. Or…this year I am blessed to be able to spend time with many of my other relatives, many of whom I don’t have the opportunity to see very often.  This year will be different…but it will be wonderful.

My point in all of this is that sometimes circumstances prevent us from spending Thanksgiving they way we usually do, or without family or friends.  There are also a number of people facing financial crisis and hosting a feast might be completely out of the question.

If you don’t have any plans for Thanksgiving,  or are without family this year, don’t just sit home alone in the rain.  (Unless a little peace and quite has been on your needs list for a while).  Saddleback Church is having a Come One…Come All FREE Thanksgiving Feast today from 1:00 pm- 3:00 pm.  Free!  Free! Free Turkey! Lots of fun.  Lots of fellowship.

Wherever you are today, I wish you a Happy Thanksgiving!

God Bless,

Las Flores - #1 Tesoro Titans Football Continue to Dominate in the CIF Pac-5 Playoffs

Tesoro Titans FootballTesoro Titans Football Fans have every reason to celebrate.  The Titans have worked their way into the number one spot as the top rated football team in Orange County.  They close the regular season at 10-0.  Can you give me a “T”?

The Titans’ winning streak continued in last Friday’s 23-7 CIF-SS Pac-5 playoff game against Los Alamitos.  It was the Titans’ first playoff win in Division 1 (Pac-5), a milestone in itself, and a glorious victory in the first of (hopefully) many playoff games.  Coach Brian Barnes has brought his team a long way in a short time.

Consider what was written in the LA Times’ Varsity Times Insider not all that long ago:

“Tesoro can’t possibly beat Mission Viejo, can it?”

Tesoro Tesoro cannot possibly win its game tonight/Friday at Mission Viejo. The Titans cannot possibly win the South Coast League title. They are a figment of South Orange County’s imagination. Right?
They are not ranked by The Times, by The Register, or the Southern Section.

They are not a player.

Are they?”

Well it certainly appears that they are in fact players…and very good ones at that.

The Titans touted pressure defense managed to sack Los Al Quarterback Clark Evans (25 TD passes in the regular season) three times.   A fumble by Los Al on the Titans’ 5 yard line kicked the Titans into gear and fans into a frenzy.  The Titans played football like football is supposed to be played.

Playoffs continue next Friday night when the Titans face Mater Dei.  If you love football this is one game you won’t want to miss.  Please join me in congratulating the Titans Football Team on a beautiful win against Los Al and best wishes for more of the same against Mater Dei next Friday.

Go Titans!
