Spycams Webcams are nothing new and there has always been a tremendous amount of debate over whether they are a little too Big Brotherish. There are valid arguments on both sides of the issue. But let’s face it. As technology improves and we become more and more connected, we tend to expect more and more. Our cell phones play music and videos, we use them to read and send email, and even use them to surf the web. But up until recently I didn’t realize that I could use a cell phone to see if my son was really wearing his helmet and pads once I dropped him off at the skate park. Not that I don’t trust him :::er::: entirely, but it is nice to be able to discreetly check up on him.
A live webcam was installed at Canada Vista Park quite some time ago, ostensibly to allow the City of RSM to monitor skater’s adherence to park rules as well as to deter vandalism. The cam has a direct view of Rancho Santa Margarita’s Skate Park and while it’s a little blurry, you can still pick out your child. You can also see roughly how many people are there. A definite tool to add to the Successful Parent Survival Kit.
